Showing Appreciation to Local Educators: Month 5 of Our 12 Months of Kindness

Written by JMC Design Build Remodel | May 12, 2026 1:17:45 PM

As part of our 12 Months of Kindness campaign, we are continuing our commitment to supporting meaningful causes throughout our community. For Month 5, we focused on showing appreciation to a group of people who make a lasting impact every single day: teachers.

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, our team organized a breakfast for the teachers at The Craig School in Mountain Lakes, NJ. We provided coffee, hot chocolate, doughnuts, munchkins, apples, plates, napkins, and everything needed for a small but thoughtful morning treat. It was our way of saying thank you to the educators who dedicate so much of their time, energy, and care to supporting students and families.

While the gesture itself may seem simple, the meaning behind it was significant. Teachers play such an important role in shaping confidence, encouraging growth, and creating supportive learning environments for students. We wanted to take a moment to recognize that dedication and remind them that their hard work does not go unnoticed.

Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week serves as an opportunity to recognize the educators who consistently show patience, compassion, and commitment inside the classroom. Teachers are often among the first people to encourage students, help them overcome challenges, and celebrate their achievements.

Their work extends far beyond lesson plans and grading assignments. They help build confidence, foster creativity, and provide structure and support that students carry with them long after leaving the classroom.

At JMC, we believe it is important to recognize the people who strengthen our communities in meaningful ways. Teachers are a huge part of that foundation. Their influence reaches students, parents, families, and entire communities.

That is why we felt it was important to dedicate Month 5 of our 12 Months of Kindness campaign to showing appreciation for local educators.

Supporting The Craig School in Mountain Lakes

For this month’s initiative, we partnered with The Craig School in Mountain Lakes, a school dedicated to supporting students with learning disabilities through specialized and individualized education.

Established in 1980, The Craig School serves students in grades 2 through 12 who struggle with learning differences related to reading, decoding, comprehension, and written expression. Their students have average or above average abilities and thrive with the proper support, instruction, and learning environment.

Learning more about the school and the incredible work their educators do made this month’s initiative even more meaningful for our team. The teachers at The Craig School provide patience, encouragement, and personalized support every day, helping students build confidence and reach their full potential.

The 12 Months of Kindness Campaign: Community Outreach in Morris County, NJ

Our 12 Months of Kindness Campaign is a yearlong initiative dedicated to community outreach in Morris County, NJ. Each month in 2026, we are selecting a different cause that reflects a real need within our local community.

As a local home improvement company, our success depends entirely on the trust of Morris County homeowners. Launching this initiative is our way of expressing gratitude and reinforcing our role as a responsible local business.

Community involvement should not be seasonal or occasional. It should be intentional and ongoing. By committing to monthly acts of service, we are creating accountability within our own team while also inviting clients, trade partners, and neighbors to participate alongside us.

The Power of Small Acts of Kindness

Kindness does not need to be complicated to be meaningful. A warm cup of coffee, a fresh breakfast, and a thoughtful gesture of appreciation can make a lasting impact on someone’s day. Small acts of gratitude help people feel recognized, supported, and valued.

This month’s initiative reminded us that giving back does not always require something grand. Sometimes, simply taking the time to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of others can mean the most.

By coming together as a team to support local educators, we were able to create something meaningful for the school community. It was a simple gesture rooted in gratitude, kindness, and appreciation for the people who make such a difference in the lives of others.

Looking Ahead

As we continue our 12 Months of Kindness campaign, we remain committed to supporting causes that positively impact our local community. Each month allows us to connect with new organizations, recognize important community members, and encourage kindness in practical ways.

Month 5 was a reminder that appreciation matters. Teachers dedicate themselves to helping others grow every single day, and we were honored to give back in a small way during Teacher Appreciation Week.

We are grateful to The Craig School for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of such a meaningful week. We also look forward to continuing this journey of kindness throughout the rest of the year.
